When the split between Kate Winslet and her husband, Sam Mendes, was confirmed earlier this week, many commentators attributed the break-up to their experiences working together on Revolutionary Road. The 2008 film, for which Winslet won a Golden Globe, offers a very dark account of a marriage in 1950s America coming apart at the seams. After enjoying a little family time Down Under , Nicole Kidman and her daughter, sweet Sunday Rose , touched down at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday. Hopefully this flight was more relaxing for the pair than a recent vacation was!

An exhibition in Edinburgh is a complete account of the photographer's work. For what is a relatively small exhibition – 70 images in all, spread over the Dean Gallery's upper floor – this latest instalment of the Artist Rooms project is as complete a survey of the themes of Diane Arbus's work as we could want. It's certainly a less obtuse one than Fur, the fictionalised 2006 film about Arbus in which Nicole Kidman played the photographer.

So clearing her busy schedule was a must for Nicole Kidman as she and husband Keith Urban jetted off to Australia to spend time with their folks and celebrate her mother's 70th birthday.  

Now that she has a new face and body and has dumped husband Spencer as her manager in exchange for a psychic, Heidi Montag is ready for the big screen. "I was just cast in my first feature film comedy! I start filming monday!!!!!" she tweeted. "this is one of the best days of my life!!! getting icecream to celebrate!" Later she brought her new job to her fans' attention once again. "memorizing my script for the feature comedy movie I am filming all next week," she tweeted.
